My two children benefit from from sessions with Stacey. My son is 11 and was diagnosed in grade 2 with a reading disability. We knew something was wrong, and since he was our oldest, we had nothing to compare his progress to at the time. He struggled in school back then and he still does now. Stacey has worked with him for a few years and he has come leaps and bounds. She assessed his phonological awareness, reading abilitiy, writing, and more. Healey has developed an understanding of ways for using sound recognition when reading and writing. He has more confidence and he says that his sessions with Stacey really help him. She teaches him tools to independently use in grade 6. Equally as important, Stacey coaches him to learn how to use daily academic practice strategies that are getting him ready for junior high. My daughter who is 8, wants to visit Stacey over the summer to bring her up to speed on reading and writing so that she doesn’t fall behind. I also have a 4 year old and I have a sense that she too will benefit from working with Stacey someday soon. As one of the youngest students in her kindergarten class, I now know that her development of sounds for reading words is so important. We will not hesitate to schedule sessions with Stacey as she is learning the letters of the alphabet as they relate to the code of reading.
Stacey is a gem, she has 3 children of her own who also struggled in school. Her children are now in University and are thriving in high level programs. Stacey’s children played lots of sport during the years, just like most busy families now a days. Stacey understands the challenges facing families who want the best for thier children. Stacey has years of experience teaching in the public school, private school and community colleges. Stacey has made it her mission to stay current with research and teaching practices. In my opinion she has a major speciality in literacy and school success. Stacey is teaching content and strategies that I wish was available to all children in the school system. My children, husband and I adore her.
